Saigon Newport Corporation was established on March 15, 1989, under Decision No. 41/QĐ-BQP of the Minister of National Defense. From December 2006, the company converted to a parent–subsidiary company model. On February 9, 2010, the Minister of National Defense signed Decision No. 418/QĐ-BQP converting Saigon Newport Company into Saigon Newport Corporation. With 28 years of development and growth, Saigon Newport Corporation has become the largest, most professional, and most modern container port operator in Vietnam, offering port operation services such as cargo handling, logistics, maritime services, salvage and rescue, pilotage, real estate, office buildings, civil and military construction, and multimodal transport.

Saigon Newport Corporation manages a network of facilities from North to South, with dozens of subsidiaries operating in various economic sectors. Its ports include Tan Cang – Cat Lai Port and Tan Cang – Hiep Phuoc Port in Ho Chi Minh City; the Tan Cang – Cai Mep deep-water container ports (TCCT, TCIT, TCTT) in Ba Ria – Vung Tau; Tan Cang – Central Vietnam Port in Quy Nhon; Tan Cang – 189 Port and Tan Cang – 128 Port in Hai Phong; and the inland river ports Tan Cang Sa Dec and Tan Cang Cao Lanh in Dong Thap, and Tan Cang – Tra Noc.
Alongside developing port infrastructure, Saigon Newport Corporation places great emphasis on developing its logistics system. The Corporation currently operates ICDs (inland container depots) at central locations and in major industrial zones, such as Tan Cang – Song Than ICD (Binh Duong), Tan Cang – Long Binh ICD (Dong Nai), Tan Cang – Nhon Trach ICD, and ICDs in Hai Phong and Ha Nam.
The company has also launched barge transport routes connecting Cambodia and the Mekong Delta to Cat Lai, the ICDs, and the Cai Mep ports, as well as inland waterway routes connecting the North, Central, and South regions.
Tan Cang – Cat Lai Port is currently the largest and most modern international container port in Vietnam, located in District 2, Ho Chi Minh City, close to the industrial and export processing zones in the north of the city and the industrial zones of Binh Duong and Dong Nai provinces. Tan Cang – Cat Lai Port has a total area of 160 hectares and a quay length of 2,040 m (10 berths), and is equipped with 20 modern Panamax quay cranes, the advanced TOP-X container management and operating system from RBS (Australia) and TOPOVN, together with an integrated hardware system that enables real-time container management, optimizes port operating capacity, shortens cargo delivery times, and creates many conveniences for customers. Tan Cang – Cat Lai Port is always the number-one choice of customers for cargo handling in the southern provinces.
Tan Cang – Cat Lai Port has a total area of 160 hectares and a quay length of 2,040 m (10 berths), and is equipped with 20 modern Panamax quay cranes, the advanced TOP-X container management and operating system from RBS (Australia), and TOPOVN.
Tan Cang – Cai Mep container port (TCCT, TCIT, and TCTT ports) is Vietnam's first deep-water seaport, in operation since June 3, 2009, capable of receiving vessels of up to 160,000 DWT (equivalent to 14,000 TEU). Tan Cang – Cai Mep Port currently has direct service routes from Vietnam to the U.S. East and West Coasts and to Europe, as well as intra-Asia routes, operated by the world's major shipping alliances such as THE ALLIANCE, OCEAN ALLIANCE, and 2M+HMM. Tan Cang – Cai Mep International Container Terminal (TCIT) is a joint-venture port between Saigon Newport Corporation and three major Asian shipping partners: Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Hanjin Transportation, and Wan Hai Lines. TCIT currently handles 10 service routes per week, including 7 direct services to the Americas, 1 to Europe, and 2 intra-Asia services to Japan, Thailand, the Philippines, Pakistan, and elsewhere.
Tan Cang – Cai Mep container port (TCCT, TCIT, and TCTT ports) is Vietnam's first deep-water seaport, capable of receiving vessels of up to 160,000 DWT (equivalent to 14,000 TEU).
The ICD system, with a total warehouse area of nearly 500,000 m², includes CFS warehouses, bonded warehouses, cold storage, and IMDG warehouses built to international standards, meeting all customer needs on site. Saigon Newport Corporation currently provides multimodal transport services on demand, based on its strengths in waterway and road transport capacity, including a barge fleet of more than 100 vessels with a total capacity of over 8,000 TEU per trip, and a road fleet of more than 500 tractor units operating nationwide as well as in the Lao and Cambodian markets.
Tan Cang – Long Binh ICD, part of Saigon Newport Corporation's ICD system, is located in the key economic region of southern Vietnam, with a total area of 230 hectares, surrounded by many large industrial zones and key transportation routes.
